Sir Oluremi Ayeleso (KSM)

A Life of Quiet Impact

Sir Oluremi Ayeleso was not a man of loud declarations, but of purposeful action. As a retired university administrator, his legacy wasn’t built in lecture halls or conference rooms, but in his living room, where he opened his doors to children with disabilities, giving them safety, education, and most of all, dignity.

At a time when disabilities were misunderstood and often met with fear, superstition, or rejection, Sir Oluremi stood firmly in quiet resistance. He believed that every child, regardless of ability, deserved to be loved, taught, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Turning Compassion into a Classroom

Sir Oluremi’s home became a sanctuary, his living room transformed into a learning space, and his home into a shelter for children who had been abandoned or discriminated against. These were not temporary acts of kindness. They were long-term commitments, driven by a profound belief in equality and inclusion.

Recognizing the need for specialized education, Sir Oluremi encouraged and supported his wife, Prof. Mary M. Ayeleso, to advance her studies in Special Education, equipping the family not just with love, but with professional tools to serve better.

A Voice for the Voiceless

Beyond his home, Sir Oluremi took his advocacy public. He championed a yearly awareness and advocacy campaign focused on:

  • Eliminating discrimination against individuals with disabilities
  • Fighting harmful beliefs such as accusations of witchcraft
  • Promoting public education around inclusion and support
  • He sought to challenge deeply rooted cultural stigmas, not through confrontation, but through compassionate education and action.

Legacy Beyond Life

Even during his final days, hospitalized and battling illness, Sir Oluremi never lost focus on the mission. He urged his family to continue the work and, as a final act of devotion, willed his personal savings toward the cause, ensuring that the seed he planted would keep growing.

“This mission was never about charity — it was about justice. These children deserve a future.”
